About GCU

Why GCU?

Hallyu University

Global Cyber University is promoting Hallyu culture (or K-Culture) worldwide. Global Cyber University is known as BTS University abroad. Six of seven BTS members who are becoming global sensations have been Global Cyber University students. RM, Suga, and J-Hope are majoring in, and Jimin, V, and Jungkook are majoring in Entertainment & Media. Many Korean stars are leading the Hallyu culture (or K-Culture) at Global Cyber University.

Global Cyber University nurtures creative individuals, communicates with the world, and develops talent and dreams through popular culture and art. It promotes Korean culture and extends Hallyu through them.

At Global Cyber University, we believe education is fundamental to how people live their lives, much more important than the kind of smartphone they choose or the television shows they watch. Through Global Cyber University, we want to show the world the deeper meaning of Korean culture. The philosophy that is at the very core of Korean culture. This is not just a philosophy for Koreans; it is a philosophy for everyone.

Hallyu University

This philosophy, forming the foundation of Global Cyber University’s educational pedagogy, is known as Hongik in Korea. Its meaning is simple: live and work for the benefit of all, not just for yourself. It is essentially the motto of Korea, one which Korean people have strived to live by since their earliest history. Due to the Internet and the connectedness of today’s world, there is more chance than ever to make this ideal a reality. Education at Global Cyber University is about supporting people to embody that spirit.

Internet-based education is in the process of transforming education. Thanks to the Internet and digital technology, most people can access some form of education, regardless of their financial and lifestyle situations. Many older adults seek additional education to expand their lives and careers. How people study has changed as they tailor their curriculum and schedules to meet their needs. It has made advanced study more accessible and easier to pursue.

Hallyu University

Global Cyber University seeks to add to this rapidly developing educational phenomenon. Offering the same ease of accessibility as other online universities, it also takes advantage of the benefits that online education offers students.

A possible adverse effect of Internet-based education is student isolation. While traditional universities have classrooms of students interacting with each other, cyber students have no physical contact with instructors and students and are left alone with their learning.

Global Cyber University is an educational institute based on the Hongik ideal. Here you will find a very different experience. Our focus is on creating connections and networks between people to benefit humanity. While your fellow students may be half a world away, Global Cyber University’s emphasis and support for collaborative learning and problem-solving through the Internet encourages our students to become even closer than they would in a traditional classroom.

Brain Education University

Anxieties and fears for the future of a sustainable human society and Earth continue to increase in an age characterized by a loss of humanity and threats to the global ecosystem resulting from the rapid development of material-based civilization. Still, any solution to these problems depends on how humans understand and use the brain.

What produced today’s human civilization is the human brain's infinite creativity. The key to resolving the present crisis facing humanity is also found in the human brain.

Brain Education is a “peace technology” for awakening and developing the character innate in the human brain. As a form of brain-integration education based on a peace philosophy, brain-development principles, and experiential education methodology, this system makes it possible to recover the value of humanness and the development of the creativity possessed by everyone. It is also a “human technology” for awakening natural intelligence by realizing that humans are a part of nature and restoring inner vitality through the body and mind-based training for how to use our brain.

Major developed countries are investing in studying the brain, which is an asset for the future of humanity and the final frontier of science. Consequently, vigorous convergence research occurs in all fields, including physics, chemistry, biology, cognitive science, and psychology. The results of an in-depth study into the human brain will contribute to the development of learning and to spreading awareness of the importance of brain training to all of society, including health, education, and culture.

The importance of knowledge on the human brain brought by the development of science is ultimately discovered in the proper application of the brain. The brain is an information-processing organ. The same information can produce different results depending on how it is processed, how the brain is developed, and in what direction it is pursued.

Information has a massive impact on the brain, especially in the information age, when everything is connected. Brain Education was developed as an information processing technology to make more creative, peaceful brains. We realize that the key to the healthy, happy, quiet life humanity pursues is found in our brains when we recognize that the human brain is something to be applied in real-world tasks and not merely a research subject.

Brain Education passed through a process of academic exploration and application in a broad range of fields over 30 years, including health, education, and self-development, based on brain science research. It was developed into an academic discipline, which included the establishment of a 4-year college and a graduate school offering master’s and doctoral degrees in Brain Education for the first time in the world.

Brain Education is a harmonic unity between 21st-century brain science and the spiritual/cultural assets of Korea 5000 years old. Since ancient times, the ancestors of the Korean people have adopted as a living culture of Chun-Ji-In (天地人), an ideology stressing the unity of humanity with nature, Shim-Shin-Ssang-Su (心身雙修), practices for governing mind and body together, and Su-Seung-Hwa-Gang (水昇火降), Shim-Ki-Hyeol-Jung (心氣血精), and Jung-Choong-Ki-Jang-Shin-Myeong (精充氣壯神明), which are principles and methodologies for the growth of human consciousness.

In the ancient Korean document, Sam-Il-Shin-Go-Shin-Hun-Pyeon, a verse that reads, “Ja-Seng-Gu-Ja Gang-Jae-In-Oe (自性求子 降在爾腦)” can be found, which means that “Search in your true nature. It has already come down and dwells in your brain.” This system of thought and training provided a philosophical and methodological foundation for today’s Brain Education. In particular, the peace philosophy of Brain Education is rooted in Hongik Ingan (弘益人間). A thought, which encompasses the universal spirit of humanity and the founding ideology of the ancient Korean kingdom of Dangun Joseon, which means live for “the wide benefit of humanity.”

Brain Education at Global Cyber University aims to guide people to evaluate and update the core information in their brains, such as beliefs and preconceptions, enabling them to deal with their social and natural environments effectively and proactively.

The system of international cooperation centered on Millennium Development Goals, pursued by the global society for 15 years beginning in 2000 to eradicate poverty worldwide, achieved a great deal of success, for example, in economic growth and expansion of primary education.

However, development excessively centered on economic growth has been reconsidered due to the threats such as accelerated environmental destruction, the polarization of wealth, and social instability. Against this backdrop, new Sustainable Development Goals were established to pursue a balanced development of the environment, society, and economy. The international community has agreed to cooperate on these centered on the United Nations (UN) for 15 years beginning in 2016.

Comprising 17 goals in the 5 areas of humanity, the earth, prosperity, peace, and cooperation, the Sustainable Development Goals are oriented on building a shared future in which everyone can realize their value through society as they lead healthy, happy lives without being isolated economically or socially from development.

Additionally, the program specifies that, in pursuing the development and prosperity of the present generation, this should be realized with consideration for future generations and respect for the earth, the foundation of all life. Due to the inclusiveness of the changes that Sustainable Development Goals aim for, the importance of change, engagement, and cooperation in all sectors of society has increased. More than anything else, the role of education is emphasized as the driving force of fundamentals has changed.

For education to be a catalyst of substantial changes in individuals and the world, being more than the acquisition of knowledge, a process of internal information for self-reflection, “who I am” and “what I can do”, is needed as a cultural creator. Brain Education presents a process for expanding information regarding “who I am” through direct experience of the brain’s potential and creative power as a physical, energy, and informative body (spiritual body). And as one goes through the Five Steps of the Brain Operating System, he/she will discover and act on a longing and confidence to create positive changes for themselves and their community. The following is a detailed look at the connection with sustainable development goals in health and education, where priority has been placed on incorporating the principles and methods of Brain Education.

Promotion of Health and Brain Education

Goal 3 Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.

Added to the third Sustainable Development Goal were detailed implementation targets for promoting mental health and preventing noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), which have generally been a problem in developed countries, in addition to the tasks that have been pursued as part of the previous Millennium Development Goals, including prevention of communicable diseases and promotion of mother and infant health.

Positive choices and behaviors for your health and happiness are more important than anything else for preventing noncommunicable diseases and promoting mental health. Brain Education promotes physical and psychological health by restoring the natural senses that the human brain originally had. Brain exercises are developed to alleviate stress by relaxing the body and activating the brain such as Brain Wave Vibration, which is actively involved in the formation of healthy brain waves through repetitive motion, Belly Button Healing, which enables simultaneous management of physical and mental health based on the latest scientific research into the gut-brain connection, are part of health-related educational methods of Brain Education that help restore the brain’s original senses.

Brain Education and Quality Education

Goal 4 Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

For promoting social integration and sustainable development through education, it’s essential to increase the quality of teaching and provide equal educational opportunities. In other words, instead of being a mere means of acquiring knowledge and skills, education must enable all people to develop their potential and realize that potential in the communities to which they belong.

In particular, Brain Education can become a new, easily accessible educational alternative for spreading peaceful, nonviolent culture and awareness of global citizenship, which is specified as the seventh target. It provides a peace philosophy, brain-development principles, and an experiential education methodology that derive actual changes to the brain. Everyone has the potential to bring out their innate peace and develop their brain, regardless of race, language, or educational understanding.
